Geothermal Bay in Lake Rotorua

Rotorua is an area of geothermal activity and the smell of sulphur and rotten eggs often engulfs the city. There are many attractions including geysers, bubbling mud pools, multi-coloured mineral pools and hot spas.

These photos were all taken in the Sulphur Bay area and show how the geothermic activity affects the landscape.
