All About Hamilton Airport

Hamilton is situated to the south of Auckland and has a population of approximately 150,000. It is New Zealand’s largest inland city and is serviced by Hamilton Airport which is situated on State Highway 21, 14 kilometres south of the city centre.

 
Hamilton Airport Domestic and International

Hamilton airport services domestic and international flights and as of the end of 2012, had the fourth longest commercial runwayin New Zealand at 2195 metres in length. An extension of this runway to just under 3000 metres has been approved and will allow Hamilton to offer flights direct to Asia and the USA.

The airport services 430,000 passengers per year and operates 24 hours a day, seven days per week without any curfew restrictions.
 
 

Facilities at Hamilton Airport

The terminal building was extended and renovated in 2007 and currently houses Velutto Café & Bar as well as Paper Plus and Duty Free stores.

Free WiFi is available throughout the terminal building and there is a free internet kiosk on the mezzanine floor.
 
 

Disabled parking and toilets are available and a lift runs between the ground and mezzanine floors. A wheelchair is available on request.

Hamilton Airport charges all visitors a $5 departure fee which is payable at Paper Plus in the terminal building or at self service kiosks. The fee has to be paid  before boarding.
 

Transport to and from Hamilton Airport

Taxi and shuttle services are both available and the cost varies between companies.
